Oriflame Milk and Honey Gold Hair Mask: Review

In today’s lifestyle which is full of chemicals, our hair are the first to lose their shine and beauty. And then to reverse the damage, we turn to hair masks.

How good it would be if something can actually make our hair silky, soft and shiny.

With this hope, I tried Oriflame Milk and Honey Gold Hair Mask (around 2.5 years ago).

So let me now share with you my experience.

Oriflame milk and honey gold hair mask

Packaging:

the product comes in a 250 gram pack. It is yellowish cream pot shaped jar with light brown lid. From hygiene point of view, the packaging is not very good because the product will be exposed every time you open it to use the product. However, the jar otherwise is a very nice one and is also reusable.

But But But….

This product comes without any outer carton….. and there is also no label on the body of the jar. So this means there are no instructions of how to use the product? Can you believe? I could not, and so since I had bought it from an agent, I thought that the lady might have mistakenly given me the product without its carton. So I went to the Google and asked about its packaging. Google uncle told me that it actually comes without any outer carton and usage instructions. What a turn off…

Price:

Rs. 579 for 250 gram. (In the photo below, the price is 499; it was the price in 2016)

Label of Oriflame milk and honey gold hair mask

So this price makes it an expensive product. If you have medium to long hair, one pack will last you only 3-4 uses (assuming that we are going to use it as a hair mask, this is what the name suggests). This means you will be paying Rs. 175-200 per application. Quiet expensive, right? So now it is even more important that the product turns out to be amazing, to make up for its high cost and make our purchase worth.

Claims:

  • For shiny and Nourished Hair

That’s it. Yes, that’s it. It does not claim anything else, because there is no space, no labels to write the claims.

So I went to their website to know the more claims about this product, and here is what I found:

Read yourself in the picture, I don’t want to waste my time in writing things which are not even true.

Claims of oriflame milk and honey gold hair mask

Reading the claims now is making me really angry. Why? Read further to know.

Contains:

distearoylethyl dimonium chloride amodimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane, cetearyl alcohol,….. blah blah blah…. Are you really interested in knowing the entire list of ingredients? Don’t be… they are all chemicals and preservatives…

ingredients of oriflame milk and honey gold hair mask

The only ingredients that might be of interest are glycerin, butyrospermum parkII butter, and hydrolyzed wheat protein.

(Did you notice? Milk and honey are not listed, and the name says milk and honey hair mask. Also, quantities of the ingredients are not mentioned)

Color:

Color is beautiful. Deep cream with a hint of golden.

Consistency and texture:

Thick, very Creamy and Soft. After experiencing the texture, your expectations with this product will rise.

Consistency of Oriflame milk and honey hair mask

Odor:

Pleasant fragrance, neither mild nor too strong. It stays afterwards for some time.

My Views/First Impression

The packaging of the product is a big disappointment. There are no clear instructions of how to use it. But looking at the price, texture and color, I had really high hopes.

Though I did not know how to use, but since it says it is a hair mask, I believed it is to be applied as a hair mask, i.e. 1-2 hours before the shampoo.

Another point, the name of this hair mask includes ‘milk’ and ‘honey’ but milk and honey are nowhere listed in the ingredients. Surprised I was. Quantities of the ingredients are not mentioned.

So there were many flaws, but I thought, ok, may be this is the style of big brands like Oriflame, and I went ahead.

My Experience

Uff… I really want to end this section in one word. But ok, I will explain in detail.

I applied it on my hair as a hair mask and kept it for around 2 hours, after which I went to shampoo my hair. The mask was completely dry and it took me forever to get it off my hair. This was another disappointment; how can a ‘hair mask’ be this difficult to wash off.

Anyway, I eagerly waited for my hair to dry and experience the ‘shiny and nourished’ hair.

After drying…. Poof…. Nothing….

Yes, my hair were not even 1% improved.

Then I thought I might be making some mistake (making mistakes with this product is very obvious as it does not come with any instructions). So I went to their website. I was happy to find a ‘how to use’ section. And what was written there? That it is to be applied after shampoo, left for 5 minutes and then washed off.

Can anyone please tell them that this type of product is called Conditioner and not Hair mask. I am still wondering why they played the trick with the name of their product.

Anyway, now I knew how it is to be used. So next time I used it the way the website has told to.

Results? I was eager too to know…

Again….. Zero results

Those days, I was using Ayur Conditioner, and trust me, ayur used to perform much better that this over priced so called hair mask.
