Am I the only one who uses a lip balm all day long even in summers, or there are other such girls too? Anyway, even if you don’t use lip balm in summers, its chilling winters, and I can’t believe anybody can survive without a lip balm in this drying weather.
Maybelline is leading the market of lip balm, and I have all the variants of Maybelline lip balms, but they are mainly used to color the lips. To moisturize the lips, I needed something more intense in winters.
So I was looking for a lip balm which I could use oodles of without making my lips look like I have painted them pink; yet the lip balm should give a decent pink/red tint to the lips, it should not be absolutely colorless. And of course, it should be thick and moisturizing enough to heal my chapped lips in winters.
I turned towards Biotique with lot of hopes. I picked Biotique Bio Fruit Whitening Lip Balm. Why did I pick it? Because the other option available was Biotique Plumping Lip Balm. I suddenly imagined my swollen lips and it was an instant NO for me. So this was the only option I had, and I bought it.
Let’s see how it turned out to be:
Packaging is same as the signature packaging of Biotique; Cylindrical bottle. The body is white in color with dark green cap. The product is to be picked up with the finger, which is a little unhygienic. The bottle is absolutely opaque. The bottle comes in an outer cardboard box packaging, which we throw away.
Price: Rs. 175 for 12 gram
According to me, this is super affordable. 12 gram of lip balm is a lot and will last you an entire season.
Expiry: 3 years
- Lightens & evens-out lip tones,
- 100% botanical extracts,
- It has therapeutic properties,
- Preservative free
Draksha Fruit, Vach Rhizome, Mulethi Stem, Badam Oil, Surajmukhi Oil, Till Oil, Shukal Erand Oil, Kusumbhi oil, Bees Wax.
Color: Cherry Red
Consistency: Very thick
Odor: Mild Fruity smell
This time, biotique has given the account of 100% contents, unlike Biotique Honey Cream Rejuvenating Body Wash. Biotique Bio Fruit Lip Balm contains 68.9% bees wax and rest oils and other ingredients. This sounds good. A lip balm has to have majority of some wax; only then it would be able to moisturize the lips. It’s great that this lip balm contains other ingredients too which are good for lips such as almond oil, draksha fruit etc. What’s best is that it does not contain petroleum jelly.
All I wanted from a lip balm was moisturizing and a tint of color which looks natural. And Biotique Bio Fruit Whitening Lip Balm did that perfectly.
I can apply it as much as I want to, because the color is so mild and does not look artificial. Within an hour, it softens the dead skin on the lips which I can then remove by exfoliating the lips. So I make sure I apply a lot of this lip balm 1 hour before I have to apply lipstick and go out.
But it did not lighten, whiten or even toned the lips, as claimed. But that’s fine. I never expected that. A product is expected to do only what it is supposed to do. And this lip balm does what it is supposed to, moisturize the lips really well.
Moisturizes the lips really well
Gives mild, natural color to the lips
Does not contain petroleum jelly
Very Cost Effective
Does it fulfill its Claims
Let’s see claim wise:
- Lightens & evens-out lip tones: No, it does not
- 100% botanical extracts: May be, I hope
- It has therapeutic properties: Mmm… We can say that. It heals chapped, cracked lips
- Preservative free: This is difficult to believe
Surprisingly, it is nowhere mentioned on the packaging that it moisturizes the lips, otherwise I would have given 10 on 10 on that claim.
Out of the several lip balms that I have tried till now, Biotique Bio Fruit Lip Balm has been the best. It moisturizes the lips perfectly, and gives a very natural looking tint to the lips. Moreover, it does not contain petroleum jelly. This is the most I could expect from a lip balm. So it is a big Thumb’s up from my side.
